Below is the Buyer’s Contract. You can fill it out and email it back to us if you are interested in one of our goats or have contacted us about a goat.
Blue Roof Farm – Goat Sales Policies (Kids & Adults)
1. Right of Retention
Blue Roof Farm reserves the right to retain any kid from any breeding or to offer a kid to a show herd at our discretion.
2. Deposits & Payment
Kids may be held with a non-refundable deposit of half the purchase price (or a mutually agreed amount).
- No holds will be placed without a deposit. Any goat without a deposit remains available to other buyers.
- A deposit is required to hold or reserve any specific goat.
- If a deposit is not paid, Blue Roof Farm reserves the right to sell the goat to another buyer at any time.
- Non-refundable deposits will not be refunded due to buyer’s change of mind, life circumstances, scheduling conflicts, or inability to pick up the goat.
All animals must be paid in full before leaving the farm.
3. Disbudding / Horns
All kids are disbudded unless a buyer specifically requests a horned kid. A deposit must be placed immediately after birth for a horned kid.
4. Wethers & Banding
Bucklings sold as wethers will be sold without papers.
- Wethers must have their band on for one week prior to leaving.
- Banding will occur either at 12 weeks of age or one week before pickup.
- A deposit is required unless another agreement has been made.
5. Companionship Policy
Goats will not be sold alone unless the buyer already has at least one goat at home.
6. Weaning, Pickup, & Boarding Fees
- Kids are weaned at 8–10 weeks.
- Kids must be picked up within two weeks after weaning or one week after final vaccinations.
- After that period, a $2/day boarding fee will be charged.
- Boarding fees must be paid in full before the goat leaves the farm.
- If the kid is not picked up within 30 days from weaning, the sale is forfeited, including the non-refundable deposit.
7. Bottle Babies
- Bottle babies must be picked up at 3 weeks of age.
- A deposit is required to reserve a bottle baby.
- Prior experience is required.
- You must specify whether you will be feeding whole milk, goat’s milk, or milk replacer.
8. Vaccination & Deworming Policy
All goats will be vaccinated and dewormed before leaving the farm. If a buyer does not wish for their goat to receive these treatments, they will need to purchase from another farm.
9. Health Guarantee & Final Sale Policy
Blue Roof Farm does not guarantee the health of any goat after it leaves our care and premises.
- If an animal becomes gravely injured or dies while still on our farm, you will receive a refund.
- Once the goat leaves the property, all sales are final.
10. Genetic & DNA Testing
Any requested genetic or DNA testing must be arranged and paid for by the buyer. Blue Roof Farm will not conduct genetic or DNA testing on our own time unless the buyer has paid in advance.
- If the buyer does not like the results of the testing, they may request another available kid or choose to forfeit the non-refundable deposit.
- If testing reveals a condition that would negatively impact the goat’s long-term health or lifespan, the deposit will be refunded.
11. Transportation Liability
Buyers are responsible for providing safe and appropriate transportation. Blue Roof Farm is not liable for any injury, illness, stress, or death that occurs during or after transport.
12. Buyer Preparedness Requirement
Buyers must have suitable shelter, fencing, feed, and basic goat-care knowledge. Blue Roof Farm reserves the right to refuse a sale if we feel the buyer is unprepared.
13. Color, Coat, & Polled Traits Not Guaranteed
Blue Roof Farm does not guarantee eye color, coat color, moonspots, polled status, or other appearance traits.
14. Registration & Transfer Responsibility
Buyers are responsible for completing and paying for registration if the goat is eligible but not registered. Buyers are also responsible for all transfer fees to place the goat into their herd name.
15. First Buy-Back / Right of First Refusal
Blue Roof Farm requests the first opportunity to buy back any goat previously purchased from us if the buyer decides to sell, rehome, or otherwise transfer ownership of the animal at any point in the future.
- This policy does not require the buyer to return the goat to Blue Roof Farm, but it does require that Blue Roof Farm be contacted before the goat is sold or rehomed.
- The buy-back price will be mutually agreed upon by both parties based on the goat’s current age, health, condition, and market value.
- If Blue Roof Farm chooses not to purchase the goat, the buyer is free to place the goat in another suitable home.
- This policy is intended to ensure the continued welfare of our animals and does not imply liability for future care or housing.
16. Payment Plan Policy
Blue Roof Farm understands that sometimes families may need extra time, and we are happy to work with buyers when possible.
- Payment plans may be available upon request and must be agreed to in writing.
- A non-refundable deposit is required to begin a payment plan. Deposits will not be refunded under any circumstances.
- Payments should be made according to the agreed schedule. If something unexpected happens, please communicate with us — we will do our best to work with you.
- All goats must be paid in full before leaving the farm.
- If a buyer is unable to complete the payment plan, any amount paid (including deposit) may be transferred toward another available goat or toward future purchase credit at Blue Roof Farm’s discretion.
- If additional time is needed beyond the agreed pickup date, boarding fees may apply and will be discussed ahead of time.
- Blue Roof Farm reserves the right to approve or decline payment plans based on circumstances and the best interest of the animal.
